Kovel, [Date] – The public organization "Gesture of Help" has announced the successful completion of the Ukrainian Sign Language School, a specialized training program for the police and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine conducted in the Kovel region.
This educational project, part of the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine by 2030, aimed to enhance communication and understanding between law enforcement and citizens with hearing impairments.
Over several weeks, twenty participants underwent an intensive course in the basics of Ukrainian sign language. The training was designed to provide essential skills for effective communication in the workplace, especially in situations where the absence of a professional sign language interpreter could pose a challenge.
Upon completion of the course, all graduates received certificates validating their knowledge and skills in Ukrainian sign language.
High-ranking officials, including the head of the Kovel District Military Administration and the chairperson of the Kovel District Council, were present at the certificate awarding ceremony. They expressed their support for the initiative and thanked everyone involved in organizing and conducting the course.
This initiative reflects the efforts of "Gesture of Help" to enhance the level of inclusion and accessibility in Ukrainian society, providing opportunities for effective communication and interaction among all its members.
